Mobility is freedom.

I ditched my car 15 years ago and rely on ride share services for those 2-3 times a year where it makes sense. Biking to the coffee shop to work was my absolute favorite thing before COVID. Riding also helps me focus and think.

We downsized to 1 car in the US for 3 years, which paid for us to move back to Japan / furnish the apartment. We didn't get a car until last year (easier for long distances with a toddler than the train). But it's getting less use recently.
