    I miss BSD/Linux. Or was that GNU/Unix, I’m not sure? Silly jokes to get a statistical minority reading this on the edge of their seat aside, I do miss it. It’s still out there, but no longer in here, so what happened? In 2007, work happened, permanently
    It’s me. I miss using Gnome and Linux and all of that, but … *sigh*
  • 🔗 I traded in my MacBook and now I’m a desktop convert

    But once the puzzle of ports and peripherals was mostly sorted out, I appreciated how intentional desktop life is. Laptops are great, but their portability made it hard for me to separate work from home.
    I have separate laptops for work and home that solve most of this. But having a dedicated place to do personal computing that isn't my home office is appealing. It's mostly the dining table or the sofa these days.

    I think the thing Apple got right the first time around was data centricity instead of app centricity.

    I like watching these clips about the early internet as presenters try to explain the internet. Who could've guessed it was such an integral part of modern life 30 years later. Also really like the setup with all of the old Mac desktops in various states of screensaver or not.
